Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero was established by the instrument of the Kebbi State Law No. 6 of 2006 and was given official recognition by the National Universities Commission,Abuja to operate, on 12th December, 2006.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


Professor:

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Professor must have a Doctorate degree in the relevant field; and must have a minimum of 12 to 15 years' teaching and research experience and must show evidence of scholarly publications in national and international academic journals and books published by reputable publishers.
  • The candidates must also show evidence of academic leadership and supervision of Postgraduate theses.
  • Candidates having, at least, 3 years experience as Readers are also eligible to apply for the post but their publications will be subjected to external assessment for the position. 
Reader:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Reader must have a Doctorate degree in the relevant field and must have a minimum of 10 to 12 years' teaching and research experience and evidence of scholarly publications in academic journals and books
    published by reputable publishers.
  • Candidates having, at least, 3 years experience as Senior Lecturers are also eligible to apply for the post but their publications will be subjected to external assessment for the position.
Senior Lecturer:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Senior Lecturer must hold a Doctorate degree in the relevant field and possess a minimum of 6 to 8 years teaching and research experience.
  • The candidates must also show evidence of having published several articles in national or international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Candidates having at least, 3 years, experience as Lecturer I are also eligible for the post.
Lecturer I:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer I should hold the Doctorate degree in the relevant field with at least one year teaching/industrial experience, acceptable for COREN registration or show evidence of having made substantial progress towards completing their doctoral theses, in addition to having a minimum of 3 to 5 years teaching and research experience and some scholarly publications.
  • Candidates who have relevant Master's Degree and some publications and at least 2 years experience as Assistant Lecturer are also eligible to apply for the post. 
Lecturer ll:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer II should hold a Doctorate degree or Master's Degree with minimum of 3 years cognate working experience.
  • Some potential for research is also required.
Assistant Lecturer:
  • Masters degree or First Class honours degree.
  • Candidates with First degree with at least Second Class Upper (2/1), in relevant fields, could also be considered.
Chief Technologist:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Chief Technologist should hold B.Tech./B. Eng./HND/Full Technological Certificate of London or its equivalent in relevant fields and possess a professional Certificate in addition to having a minimum of 15 years working experience.
Senior Technologist:
  • Candidates seeking appointment as Senior Technologist should hold B.Tech./B. Eng./HND/Full Technological Certificate of London or its equivalent in relevant fields, and possess a professional Certificate, in addition to having a minimum of 6 years working experience.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is offering one undergraduate/postgraduate scholarship to Nigerian students.
The scholarship is tenable in Nigeria and overseas, and will reasonably cover tuition and board.

Entrants must be Nigerian citizens who are currently undergoing, or have been admitted into, a course of study at undergraduate or postgraduate level at a government-approved institution of learning within or outside Nigeria.
To qualify for consideration for the scholarship applicants should submit an essay on the topic:
More Learning to More People: How can Nigeria be more innovative in bridging its literacy and skills gap? 
Entries must be in English, and be between 2,000 and 5,000 words.
All essays should be submitted on or before August 31, 2013.
It will be the responsibility of applicants to reasonably prove that they possess valid letters or offers of admission, or other evidence of studentship. Successful candidates who are unable to prove this will have their scholarship offers revoked.
Entrants must avoid plagiarism and should be prepared to present themselves for an oral defence of their work (should the need arise). Plagiarism will result in instant disqualification of the affected entry.
Essays will be judged for grammar, clarity, coherence and a focus on solutions. (While it is important to highlight the problems and challenges of education in Nigeria, the essay should primarily focus on innovative problem-solving)
Only one scholarship will be awarded. There will however be consolation prizes for up to two other entrants.

Tasks
 
The tasks that the resident advisor will be expected to perform include:
  • Liquidity forecasting: strengthening the framework by, in particular, accounting for forecasting errors in terms of the  factors that affect liquidity;
  • Achieving greater consistency in the application of concepts in data compilation and by assisting in the production of  high frequency data,  particularly data  relating to operations in the money and foreign exchange markets;

  • Building capacity within the CBN in the use of these instruments;
  • Promoting and facilitating effective coordination between the Financial Markets Department and the various operational departments in the implementation of monetary policy;
  • Advising on foreign exchange operations as appropriate,
  • Improving transparency particularly to ensure that the CBN's policy stance is well understood by market participants;

Qualifications 
The desired candidate should have extensive practical experience in operational work in the conduct of monetary policy, including in areas such as liquidity forecasting and liquidity management. He or she should also have experience with making operational a policy decision to move toward interest rate instruments or an inflation targeting regime. Such experience would have been acquired in a central bank or by the delivery of TA through the IMF or other international institutions.
 
Other qualifications include:
  •  Considerable experience working in a central bank at both a technical and policy level in the areas related to the duties of the position;
  • A postgraduate degree in economics or finance would be desirable, but is not essential;
  • Experience in managing technical assistance projects; and
  • Experience in organizing and conducting training courses, seminars, and workshops.

The British Council is currently looking for 2 temporary staff for Customer service/ Exam assistant post. The first position will run from august to the 10th of February 2014. The second position will run from the December 1, 2013 to May1, 2014

Job Title: Customer Service/ Exam Assistant
Purpose of job:

To support the achievement of country plan objectives in Nigeria by delivering examinations administration support and customer services. To maintain them at the highest professional standards as set out in the British Council's EQS (Examination Quality Standards) and by the Examination Board Partners.

Context and environment:

Customers and enquirers engage with the British Council Nigeria for a number of purposes with the majority being for examinations. Nigeria is the largest British Council exams business in the Sub Saharan Africa region. It administers exams in four subject areas: Schools, Professional/Vocational, Educational on behalf of UK institutions and IELTS. In 2012-13 we will delivered roughly 70,000 exams to 25,000 candidates. The Nigeria team comprises 22 people and are based mainly in Lagos with five in Abuja and four in Lagos.

The SSA region delivers exams in over 20 countries from its offices in 16 of these countries. In 2012, we delivered a quarter of a million exams to over 100k candidates. Growth in the region is robust, but our challenges are many. Nevertheless, Exams teams are making solid gains in our 4 strategic priority areas, namely: improving business performance, improving quality, improving financial compliance and increasing impact.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

(including people management and finance)


  • As Examinations/Customer Service Assistant the post holder will be line managed by the Lagos Centre Manager.
  • Reliability: to ensure examinations are delivered securely according to board requirements
  • Quality: to deliver a high standard of customer service to our customers, schools and exams candidates. Performance is measured by our own Exams Quality Standards and the inspection visits from Cambridge International Exams and other examination boards.
  • Finance: all British Council standards for managing finances are met with relation to managing Purchase Orders, reconciling income, managing contracts and procurement.
Main duties:
To provide services that support British Council examination candidates.

Examinations Administration
  • Providing administrative support in the delivery of examinations. This involves supporting colleagues in pre and post-test/examination administration duties. This includes exams data entry, post-despatch, assisting with session planning/implementation and examination invigilation.
  • Supporting Exams Officers in venue staff monitoring and training.
  • Conducting venue and school inspections.
  • Supporting the wider British Council activities such as workshops, seminars and any other project related services in line with Exams Quality Standards (EQS)
Customer Service
  • Complaints, comments and feedback are dealt with in accordance with corporate policy and the Exams Quality Standards.
  • All service registration procedures (e.g. Exams, Certification and other programme registration) are fully understood and implemented to agreed standards.
Information Knowledge Management
  • Manage information created and received in compliance with the Council’s information management standards, policies, the UK Data Protection Principles and local legislation.
Other Duties
  • To assist with market testing of venues and other suppliers.
  • Assisting with data collection for marketing purposes.
  • To regularly attend staff meetings to both gain and impart knowledge about our customers, products and services
  • To assist with any other duty examinations management deem necessary.
Key relationships:
Internal: Lagos Exams Team, Country Exams Manager, Deputy Country Exams Manager
External: Venue Staff, IELTS Examiners, enquirers, examinations candidates, IELTS Examiners, venue suppliers.

Other important features or requirements of the job
(e.g. travel, unsocial/evening hours, restrictions on employment etc)

IELTS tests are usually held on Saturdays and Sundays and some early evenings. Professional and vocational examinations are also occasionally held on Saturdays. Rostered working on Saturdays, Sundays and some evenings is required. Travel to administer/monitor IELTS tests in centres outside of Lagos is required. Test deadlines are absolute; therefore, out of office hours working may be required to meet these deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Relevant post-secondary school qualification.

The Business Support position shall be accountable for the provision of effective plans and Contract support, monitor the implementation of CP plans and deliverables on behalf of the CP Manager. This individual will have to maintain close working relationships with CP staff, business stakeholders and discipline focal points at all organizational levels within P&T.

Develop and implement a robust Procurement strategy to place demand in the market place in the optimal manner to secure third party materials in compliance with schedule, quality requirements and on best commercial terms taking full cognisance of risks and opportunities for the cluster of contracts responsible for.

  • They will be responsible to improve compliance, standardize controls, data definitions, systems and procedures
  • Coordinate weekly highlight report on behalf of the CP manager.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with project services, finance, legal and other functional teams to ensure that CP
  • documentation is compliant with project reporting and controls requirements and all fiscal and legal regulations
  • Ensure business ethics are maintained to the highest level and ensure compliance with the Shell Group Statement of General Business Principles - Manage Claims and record approprately for Compny Claim team consideration/escalation
  • Plan and align the activity budget and monitor all streams of transactions on behalf of the CP Manager.
  • Develop CP mangement report that would aid the the decision of the CP manager.
  • Keep track of all busineess activities and ensure records, documents and report are properly classified and filed in the relevant
  • document repositories including livelink.
  • Coordinate the provision of supporting documents during internal and external audit as well as DEVCOM.
  • Cordinate the weekly Leadership meeting,
  • Cordinate the preparation Business plans, work programmes, and other related activities to ensure full synergy, ingegration and compatibility.
Qualifications
  • Minimum qualification of B.Sc/ HND in Sciences, Social Sciences and Engineering (min Second Class Honours (Lower Division)/ HND (Lower Credit).
  • Experience in Team Work, Team Building, And Facilitation
  • Excellent Communication Skills (Presentation; effective conversations and written)
  • Good customer management and leadership skills.
